Kirsten’s dad grew up running up and down the hills of the foggy and picturesque town of Sausalito across the Golden Gate. Right after World War II, many boats were still built at the nearby shipyard, and they quickly adapted to peacetime use. Work abounded, and the region’s economy was about to boom.
